An Upstate New York native, Samantha Barczak received the majority of her early dance training at Myers Ballet School before furthering her studies on scholarship at The Rock School for Dance Education, American Ballet Theatre, and the New York State Summer School for the Arts. Upon graduation she began a career as a freelance dancer, performing as a guest artist with several American companies including Dayton Ballet, Northeast Ballet Company, Long Island Ballet Theatre, BalletFleming, and Contrast Dance Theatre. She also served as Ballet Mistress and Repetiteur for choreographer Christopher Fleming’s ballets in the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. In 2009, Ms. Barczak became a Principal Dancer and Outreach Coordinator for The Rebecca Davis Dance Company where she remained through the company’s last performance. She performed with Pennsylvania Ballet as a guest artist prior to joining the company full time in 2011.
Throughout her tenure at Pennsylvania Ballet she danced featured roles such as: George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker™
(Coffee, Hot Chocolate Principal), Raymonda Variations (Variation V), The Four Temperaments (Second Theme, Flagmatic), and Jewels (Rubies Tall Girl, Emeralds Pas de Trois); Matthew Neenan’s 11:11; Jiří Kylián’s Petite Mort; and Christopher Wheeldon’s Carnival of the Animals (Cuckoo) and Swan Lake (Can-Can).
In addition to her extensive professional performance experience, Ms. Barczak has been an active educator and guest faculty positions at many regional schools.
She actively pursues opportunities to share her knowledge and passion with the next generations of young dancers.
