Sandra began her training at age 11 in Jamestown NY at Academy of Dance Arts under Shirley Kopp from National Ballet of Canada and Ballet Russe De Monte Carlo. While dancing with the Jamestown Civic Ballet Company, Inc. founded by Shirley Kopp she had the opportunity to work under Oleg Briansky in his “Airs and Dances” and fast solo by Andre Eglevsky in “Paquita” in the corps of Eglevsky Ballet. She performed choreography by Diana Jablokova-Vorp, George Tomal, Marilyn Ramsey, Richard Sias, Alexi Romav, Francis Petrelle, Marguerite Duncan and many others. She was offered scholarships to New Jersey Ballet and Alvin Ailey. She later danced professionally with San Diego Ballet under Keith Martin performing such works as Balanchine’s “Serenade” staged by Jilliana. Other professional dance experience included the Empire State Ballet touring the upper east coast and Canada, Soloist for American Festival Ballet touring the midwest and west coast, and Soloist for La Jolla Festival Ballet. She performed with modern dance companies Pick Of The Crop Dance, 3’s company (Betsi Roe), San Diego Dance Theatre (Carl Yamamoto), and Stage 7 Dance Theatre (Marius Zirra). She settled in San Diego and has been a versatile dancer, teaching and choreographing all styles of dance in San Diego County area for over 20 yrs as well as working as a seamstress and costume designer.
Since 2012 she returned to her hometown teaching at Chautauqua Regional Youth Ballet as well as working as a seamstress and costume designer for most of the places mentioned above and the Globe theater, San Diego Opera, La Jolla playhouse, Chautauqua Regional Youth Ballet and Chautauqua Dance at Chautauqua Institution.
